Palacio del Rey Sancho
Valldemossa
The palace was built in the 14th. Century as Winter residency for the kings of Majorca. After the kingdom of Majorca joined the Spanish crown, the palace was used as the first Cartuja (Carthusian monastery) of Valldemossa . When this religious community incresed, they built the actual monastery next to the palace and it became the private residency of a Majorcan aristocratic family. Its interior magnificent decoration surprises visitors for its rich tapestries and furniture, which remind of a Roman palazzo.
Frédéric Chopin, the most romantic music composers of all times and George Sand, a classic author, spent some months in Valldemossa. George Sand explained her life in the island in a popular book: "A Winter in Majorca". The palace of King Sancho offers piano recital daily and the couple can enjoy the romantic Chopin's music after the blessing ceremony. Hispanic writer Rubén Dario lived in the palace, where he wrote some of his best pages.
The wedding blessing takes place in the private chapel of the palace which keeps its original, traditional decoration.
