Probably built around the XIII century, the Castello di Montegridolfo reopened its gate under the ancient Tower standing above the entrance to the Borgo Antico (the Ancient Village) in 1994, after a complicated and careful restoration which lasted about six years.
Situated on the boundary between the Romagna and Marche regions, the Castello di Montegridolfo lies in the green hills of the Valconca valley, which descend gradually towards the Adriatic Sea, only few kilometres away. Surrounded by a beautiful garden it commands a panoramic view over a countryside dotted with abandoned fortresses, towers and ancient churches.
